What is Medical School Like? Ask a Student!
Ever wondered what it’s like to be a medical student? We’ve asked one of our friends Chris, who is a second-year medical student at an MD school in Florida, to write a short narrative for you answering the question: What is medical school like? He has also been kind enough to volunteer to answer any questions you have! Use the form at the end of this page and we’ll post your questions with his answers as soon as we can!
So, What is Medical School Like?
“Medical school is amazing! Don’t believe the hype – your life will not be miserable. Sure, you have lots of classes and tons to study, but it’s all very interesting stuff. There are times when I study a lot and there are times when I feel overwhelmed, but I have a great support system to help me get through the tough times and enjoy the good times. My classmates are absolutely the best – we all have the same classes together, so after a few months we became one big family. We go out together and have fun, and we study in groups to support each other. We’re all in this together and we all want to see one another succeed. Our school has a wonderful administration and faculty that will do anything to help you do your best. I finally feel that I’m out of the competitive environment of pre-med and college and I’ve entered a more collaborative environment of medical school. That’s all I can think of at the moment, but if you have questions please feel free to ask. Sometimes I can get busy, but I’ll answer them as soon as I can!”
